She lived for 7 years with her owner, a mature single female, who finally needed to go into assisted living and couldn't take Penny with her. Penny did fine with her Mom and one or two people who came to visit her or who came to assist her in her home. Penny often will bark at strangers who come to the home she's curious but she's also fearful. Penny is not a cuddly Sheltie-girl but she can bond and wants to bond with one female possibly a couple of female humans. Penny is terrified of men and will bowl over anyone and anything in her way to keep a wide gulf between her and any male human in her vicinity. She did this with me the first week she came to our home even though I am female. Now she will come up to me while I'm sitting down and ask to be petted and will also signal me but grunts and pokes that she needs to go outside to go potty. It's possible, that with love and the right person, Penny could be a cuddly and affectionate girl. She will always be a girl who is easily frightened. It doesn't take much to trigger her because she seems quite suspicious of my motives even when I'm just reaching to pet her. Penny will bite if frightened enough and you don't back off and respect her need for space.
